Managing Mental Health
Create a supportive environment for employee mental health
Training Overview
Keep your team on track by discovering how outstanding managers do and don't deal with mental health issues.
You will be guided by mental health specialist Lou O'Connell MBE, a qualified mental health nurse. Lou's wealth of practical knowledge and experience couple with her down-to-earth approach will equip you to manage a team in which mental health is not a dirty word.
Creating a supportive environment for employee mental health has never been more important. Poor mental health is an increasing issue at work, causing 12.7% of all sickness-related absence days in the UK. This includes everything from workplace stress to depression and bipolar disorder.
Whilst companies understand the importance of good mental health, many do not feel confident handling or communicating about these issues in the office. This leads to more significant staff churn, increased absenteeism, decreased motivation, and reduced productivity.
On this course, you'll learn how to handle day-to-day mental health issues and cultivate your team's mental wellbeing.
How will I benefit?
In this intensive and interactive 90 minute webinar for managers in the PR and communications sector, you will gain the confidence to support and nurture your team's needs.
As you learn more about mental wellbeing in the workplace, we'll show you how effective managers minimise the negative impact of poor mental health on their businesses by implementing a 'Mental Health at Work Plan'. We'll look at how your plan will benefit your organisation, from adjusting hours or responsibilities to providing 'mental health days' or having mental health first aiders in place to support your team. And we'll discuss how to monitor staff wellbeing at regular intervals to minimise the disruption caused by mental health issues.
Managers will leave with a notional mental health toolkit, including mini exercises and practical strategies, along with information on accessing the different types of counselling and available therapies.
By the time we finish, you'll think of yourself as a champion for mental health in the workplace. You'll have a solid grounding in how to identify a wide range of mental health issues and, most importantly, how to respond professionally and supportively.
